MCMS MIGRATION AND LANGUAGES
|
|
MCMS and SharePoint handle multi-lingual
content very differently. In MCMS, you could
effectively mix languages within one channel
or a posting. However, SharePoint natively
wants to separate languages in to separate
sites; this is done through "variations."
Variations are a one-way push from a primary
language to other language variations. As a
consequence, creating dynamic two-way
relationships between language versions
within your site is challenging to
implement. In addition, if you currently
have a multi-lingual site, migration of your
content is a challenge, since SharePoint
will only expect one character set per
migration effort.

SharePoint Report 2009
|
|
The new
SharePoint Report 2009 was released
November 2008. Shawn Shell was a
contributing author and collaborated with
CMS Watch to develop this full 214 page
research report. In this report, SharePoint
was compared to other tools in the
ECM/Portal space. It discusses what
SharePoint does well, its limitations and
what businesses of all sizes need to do to
be successful when implementing the tool.
This report would also be valuable for
anyone considering SharePoint or any other
content management solution.
If you need help in evaluating what
ECM/Portal space solution would be a good
fit for your organization, please
